State Bank of India conducts examination to select potential candidates for the post of Probationary Officer in different branches of the bank. SBI PO is one of the most coveted jobs of the Indian Banking System. The lucrative pay scale that the SBI offers is the highest among the PSU banks. More than 20 lakh candidates take this exam annually.
The selection process for this exam is a 3-tier process, which consists of Preliminary exam, Mains exam and Interview. Candidates need to clear all three stages in order to secure the appointment letter from the SBI.

SBI PO exam is held online, which consists of 3 stages:
The exam is held online and consists of 100 questions in total of 100 marks. The candidates have to attempt it within 1 hour.
*Negative marking: 1/4th of the total marks allotted for a question is deducted for every wrong answer.
The exam is of objective type and is conducted online. It consists of 155+2 questions of 200+50 marks, which is required to be completed within a time frame of 3 hours+ 30 minutes. It comprises of 4+1 sections,
- Reasoning & Computer Aptitude,
- Data Analysis & Interpretation &
- General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness,
- English Language
- + a descriptive paper of English Language of 50 marks, to be completed in 30 minutes.

The candidates clearing the previous two stages are called for the Group Exercise and Personal Interview session. On the basis of the performance in the Group Exercise of 20 marks and Personal Interview of 30 marks, candidates are selected by the banking panelists.
